What is AnyBottle?
AnyBottle is a message-in-a-bottle website. You write a short letter, seal it, and the sea carries it to a stranger who may open it and write back.
Do I need an account to read a bottle?
No. Anyone can pick up a bottle and read the letter. Signing in with Google is only required to cast a bottle, reply, or keep bottles on your shore.
Is my name shown on a letter?
By default, yes: letters and replies are signed with the name on your Google account. Anonymity is optional. Tick “Send anonymously” and sign with a pen name, or leave it as “Anonymous”, and your Google name is not shown. Your Google email is never shown. The letter itself is public: anyone with the link can open that bottle.
Who can see a bottle I cast?
A bottle is a public note. The sea can hand it to a stranger, and the page that holds it can be opened by anyone who has the link.
How do I send a message in a bottle?
Open Cast a bottle, write a short letter, and choose a seal. When you cast it, sign in with Google if you have not already; your letter is kept in your browser while you do. Then it joins the other bottles at sea.
How do I pick up a bottle?
Open Pick one up and haul the line. No account is needed to pick up and read a bottle. Writing a reply or keeping it on your shore requires Google sign-in.
Can I delete a letter?
If you cast the bottle, you can take it back from your shore after you sign in. You can also write through Contact or email and ask for a letter, a reply, or an account to be removed.
What if I see something hurtful?
Tap Report under the bottle or reply. When three different people report the same thing, it is hidden from the sea straight away. Links, contact details, and hurtful or explicit words are also filtered before a letter or reply is cast.
What language is the site in?
The site is in English and open to anyone. Letters are written by visitors.
