Future self

A letter to the you who is coming

Write to the person you will be in a month, or in a year. Seal it, and AnyBottle brings it back to your shore when the time is up. No stranger reads that one.

How the return works

On the writing desk, open More options and choose “To your future self.” One month, six months, or twelve. The letter does not join the public sea, before or after it comes back. It waits, then shows up on your shore for you alone.

You need a Google sign-in to cast it, the same as any bottle, so the letter knows which shore to come home to. You can take it back early if you change your mind.

What to tell them

Tell them what you hope is easier. Tell them what you want them to remember about today. You can be specific (“drink water, call your sister”) or soft (“I hope the year was kinder than you feared”). Keep it to a postcard. 420 characters is the whole bottle.

If you would rather a stranger read a wish, leave the return set to “A stranger” and cast it into the sea instead.

When you are ready

A bottle holds up to 420 characters, about a postcard. Leave out real names and places. Write to your future self, or pick up a letter someone else let go.
